Now, all three of us come from higher ed — the land of learning objectives — but we’ve also all picked up a thing or two through other fields after leaving. So while we still love a good anchoring, we’ll put a little twist on it by starting up-front with what we’re calling UNlearning objectives. We want to help you:

🛑 STOP shaping your leadership around someone else’s mold
🛑 STOP waiting for permission or perfect timing to lead
🛑 STOP thinking a title creates a leader
🛑 STOP believing that the only type of leadership is positional or hierarchical
🛑 STOP confusing confidence or competence with control
🛑 STOP assuming that real leadership looks “too corporate” or “too polished”

… and START leading with a point of view that’s unmistakably YOURS. ✅

In other words, we want Lead With Your Own Voice to be a three-part leadership lab that gives you the language and frameworks to start leading and managing like YOU.

The scariest (and most exciting) part of these UNlearning objectives is that learning to lead like yourself can only come from… well, you. So this mini-course will help you get started going back inward.

We’ll do this using one of Boundless Impact’s core frameworks: The Three Essential Lenses of Leadership. We believe that sharpening your critical, creative, and strategic thinking skills is the foundation of your permission slip to start thinking of yourself — and therefore to begin acting, wherever you are — as a leader.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This minicourse is split into three sections, plus a wrap-up, and working through it can work in (at least) two different ways:

1) Take it over an afternoon with a good cup of coffee if you're the kind of person who likes to go all in, or
2) Spread it over three days if you want time to sit with each lens before moving to the next. Either way, the reflection prompts are where the real work happens.

Each of the three parts will invite you into one of these essential lenses of leadership:

  1. Critical thinking helps you question inherited beliefs
  2. Strategic thinking helps you reconnect with your own direction and values
  3. Creative thinking helps you design your own mold

From there, all you need is fifteen minutes to read, and somewhere to reflect – in whatever way works for YOU. (Even the three of us do this differently! It could be a notebook, a document, or a voice note.) Just make sure you keep it consistent!

YOUR HOMEWORK:

We believe in keeping homework short & sweet, so for now, take a second to come up with a sentence or two that encapsulates your intention for this challenge. Some questions to get you started:

→ “If I didn’t have to prove anything to anyone, what kind of leader would I start becoming today?”

→ “If I could take the best of what I’ve experienced across workplaces and/or bosses, what would I keep?”
